		<description>These are self-reported distances by the commuters.  (More recent AHS data include commute time, also self-reported but not necessarily during the peak.)  Which reminds me to mention that there are at least three potential descrepancies between the distance and duration measures: congestion (all distances are not equal), reporting errors (more likely for distance I would think), and variation (more likely for duration).</description>

		<description>I don&#039;t understand how commute distance (or time) was measured? Was it county-to-county centroids along a straight line or some other physical measure? Or was it travel time during the morning peak period or evening peak period, measured or estimated by the people doing the commuting?</description>
